Oklahoma Prison Inmate Search

There are 23 state prisons in Oklahoma. Additionally, the state also hosts some private prisons and has some halfway houses that are intended to help inmates adjust back into society. There are also county jail facilities in the state.

Statistics from the National Institute of Corrections say that there were 10,670 people in various prisons under the jurisdiction of Oklahoma, at the end of the year 2020.

The presence of a large prison population and several prisons makes it useful to have a way someone can search for an inmate. This search could be carried out by several interested parties, including local and federal government, prison authorities, or even the general public.

To make this possible, the Oklahoma Department of Corrections has an Offender Locator Tool on its website. Interested parties can use this tool to find the location of a prisoner inside the Oklahoma state prisons.

It’s worth pointing out that this system doesn’t include every prisoner in the state. As an example, juvenile offenders are not available to this search and will not show up as results. Also, the tool doesn’t include county prisons inside the state.

The search tool itself is fairly straightforward. The basic search includes entries for the following information:

  • OK DOC#
  • First Name
  • Last Name
  • Date of Birth

While other things are self-explanatory, the OK DOC# deserves some clarification. This is the Oklahoma Department of Corrections number that is unique and assigned to each inmate. Using this number can make the search relatively quick and easy.

The form also includes checkboxes to further refine the search. You can use the checkboxes to include alias data in search, or include similar-sounding names in the search.

Once the necessary information is entered, simply hitting “enter” on your keyboard or hitting on the “search” button will begin the search. Any applicable results will be displayed at the bottom of the same page.

In most cases, the results include specific information about the prisoner. These include the facility where the prisoner is held, their mugshot, name, date of birth, gender, race, and description. Information on details of each offense and specific courts is also included.

Overall, the Oklahoma Inmate Search tool is a useful system that can help locate prisoners in the state or get information on inmates. The tool is relevant for use to government and law enforcement authorities. It’s also useful for the public.
